Charlotte & Joe’s non-traditional New Year’s Eve Wedding in oldham
Rain, a red bus, and a tortoise named Tyrion.
If you’re the type of couple who wants your wedding day to feel like you - and not like some Pinterest-fuelled checklist - Charlotte & Joe’s NYE wedding is going to be your kind of energy.
Charlotte kicked things off getting ready at home, zero fuss, just calm vibes and her nearest and dearest. Then she hopped onto a vintage red double-decker bus - because why not make a proper entrance? Bonus points for the fact it doubled as our rain shelter-slash-portrait backdrop later on. More on that in a sec.
The Ceremony at St James Church, Oldham - with a Tortoise Cameo
The ceremony was at St James Church in Oldham and, just when guests thought they knew what was coming, enter Tyrion, the couple’s tortoise, casually cruising down the aisle in a toy car. Yes, you read that right. Tyrion rolled in with full main character energy, stealing the show before Charlotte even appeared. Icon behaviour.
The day itself? Rained. A lot. We’re talking classic grey British skies that didn’t let up - but we weren’t about to pretend it wasn’t happening. Instead, we leaned into it. Sheltered on the bus, snapped some slick portraits, and let the story unfold the way it was always going to. Real, imperfect, and full of personality.
Cosy Wedding Reception at Sorella in Oldham, Manchester
After the ‘I do’s,’ everyone headed to Sorella, an intimate Italian spot nearby, where they ate, drank, laughed, and cut their cake between courses. No rigid timelines, no over-planned reception - just a cosy meal with their favourite people and good wine flowing.
Then came the house party to see in the New Year. And the theme? Disco balls. A few disco balls? Nah - a LOT of disco balls.
It was loud, fun, unfiltered, and full of everything that makes a house party unforgettable. Think dancing in living rooms, champagne everywhere, and the kind of energy that can’t be staged.
The NYE Wedding After Party: House Party Meets Disco Fever
No choreographed first dance. No pretending the rain didn’t happen. Just a couple who threw tradition out the window and celebrated their love their way - from tortoises to tiramisu.
