A STYLISH SUMMER WEDDING AT NEWLAND HALL, ESSEX
An effortlessly chic wedding IN CHELMSFORD
Ellie & Charlie’s wedding day, set against the backdrop of Newland Hall in the Essex countryside, was the perfect blend of effortless style, relaxed charm and pure, unfiltered joy.
The venue, located four miles west of Chelmsford, is a grand, 15th-century Tudor manor house which is surrounded by more than 100 acres of picturesque grounds - the ideal setting for this late August wedding.
The couple got ready on site, which always makes for some gorgeous storytelling photos as we are easily able to jump between both parties to document the start of the day.
NEWLAND HALL, ESSEX WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY
Ellie’s dress, from Grace & Lace Bridal, was the epitome of understated elegance. Flowing effortlessly to the floor, it featured a sleek, minimalist silhouette that clung in all the right places! Ellie added a bold pop of blue with a pair of statement Manolo Blahnik heels - a nod to Carrie Bradshaw’s now iconic wedding shoes from Sex and the City.
The whole look was pulled together with hair and makeup by Brides by Rose and Makeup by Stephanie. Ellie opted for soft loose waves and her signature bold lip which complemented her relaxed, yet stylish, vibe.
The bridesmaids wore a palette of blue hues, from soft sky to deep navy, cohesively bringing together the tonal palette which was thoughtfully based on the groom’s RAF uniform.
The couple had planned for an outdoor ceremony at the English country rose gazebo, surrounded by floral designs from Springfield Florist. Thankfully the British weather played ball! This was followed by a fun-filled reception in the marquee where the understated decor, and blue sunglasses as place cards, reflected E&C’s easy-going energy.
UNFILTERED JOY & CELBRATION
From our first encounter with Ellie & Charlie, through to their pre-wedding shoot and beyond, it was clear that they wanted their wedding to feel like a true celebration, where everyone could let loose and enjoy themselves - prioritising experience over perfection. And boy their day did not disappoint! There weren’t many requests for more planned, formal photos, which left us free to observe and capture some beautiful candids of both the couple, and their guests, embracing the party vibes.
“Paul and Suzi were an absolute dream. They are extremely professional and fun at the same time.
Paul made us feel super comfortable - my now husband and I are not good in front of the camera and are generally quite awkward! But Paul captured us perfectly in the pictures he took.”
Although much of E&C’s day was captured candidly, we did put our editorial skills to good use to create a dream photo setup for Ellie…. a Kardashian inspired shot of her and her bridesmaids! We love getting creative and creating pieces of artwork for more formal shots like this. Group shots definitely don’t need to be boring!
E&C ended the night with a playful champagne spray, and a few editorial flash portraits (kinda our signature send off by now!) which were super fun. What made these photos so epic is that both Ellie & Charlie threw themselves into the moment, embracing their carefree natures. The photos fit their personalities perfectly and encapsulate the entire vibe of the day.
